Short press release
Max puts on his magic glasses – and everything changes.
In nine scenes, including Max´s room, the town square or the park, amazing things suddenly take place. The view through the glasses shows skyscrapers that wondrously turn into dominoes, flower beds that are made up of lollipops or a passing truck that displays a giant whale. The town square's church tower takes off as a fiery rocket, the statue comes to life and the man in the park doesn't just throw little sticks for his dog, but whole tree trunks.
Children between the ages of 3 and 7 are delighted with this particularly imaginative app. All backgrounds were hand-painted with watercolors. Five cutscenes lead from one scene to the next. The more than one hundred lovingly created animations provide additional fun. leed:audio Leipzig is responsible for the sound design; the jazzy background was created by saxophonist François de Ribaupierre and his band.
Early readers have the option to read the story by themselves. Everybody else may have it read to them by professional actress Jessica McIntyre. While the narrator is activated, words are being highlighted to help early readers do their first steps.
Detailed press release
The story behind “The Wunderglasses – a children`s book app“: while little Max was out and about playing, he found a pair of glasses. Whenever he puts them on, something absolutely marvelous happens. Everything around him changes and comes to life. Skyscrapers suddenly become dominoes, flowers transform themselves into delicious lollipops and a whale can be seen on the truck that comes roaring down the street. Max is truly amazed: the town square`s church tower is all of a sudden turned into a fiery rocket that takes off into the sky.
Naturally, children between the ages of 3 to 7 are going to be delighted to join Max in his adventures by putting on the magic glasses. Nine scenes come to life in the iPad and Android storybook, featuring a fascinating life of their own.
A co-production between Luftlinie Produktion UG (haftungsbeschränkt) (story, illustration, animation) and Gentle Troll Entertainment GmbH (project management, technical implementation) made it possible to let the app become a reality. However, the companies still had to rely on financial support of additional investors.
Martin Armbruster from Luftlinie Produktion UG (haftungsbeschränkt): “In 2013, after having worked on the app for two years, we urgently needed the additional amount of € 6,000 to pay a narrator, musician, translator and more. A crowd-funding platform, which featured more than 100 supporters, helped us to collect and invest € 6,630 for our app. This made us the first German-language children's book app that was funded via Startnext.“
“The Wunderglasses“ for iPad was released on 12/10/2015 in the iTunes App Store and becomes available for iPhone on 06/02/2016. An Android version was released on 12/21/2015.
The picture-book app provides more than 100 animations that will definitely delight all children. Backgrounds are hand painted with watercolors. Children may read the text of the story themselves or chose the option to have it read to them by professional actress Jessica McIntyre. Read words are being highlighted. The amazing sound design was created by leed:audio Leipzig, the jazzy background music is by saxophonist François de Ribaupierre and his band.
The app is regularly priced at $ 2.99. It does not contain advertising or hidden in-app purchases.
